Chiropractic
What is Chiropractic?
Proper alignment of the body’s structure, especially the spine, supports the body’s natural ability to heal and function optimally.
Chiropractic focuses on diagnosing, treating, and preventing disorders of the musculoskeletal system—particularly those involving the spine—and their impact on overall health.
Care may also include soft tissue therapy, rehabilitation exercises, posture correction, and lifestyle advice.
Chiropractic care is commonly sought for conditions such as back pain, neck pain, headaches, joint discomfort, and sports or work-related injuries. It emphasizes a holistic, patient-centered approach, aiming not only to address symptoms but also to support long-term health, mobility, and wellbeing.
What does a Chiropractor do?
Same as Myotherapists, and Remedial Massage Therapists, Chiropractors use hands-on, non-invasive techniques. The difference is a Chiropractor uses most commonly spinal adjustments or manipulations—to restore mobility, relieve pain, reduce nerve irritation, and improve physical function.
The Chiropractor can refer patients for X-rays with relatively minimal fee.

What treatment techniques do Chiropractors use?
Spinal Adjustments (Manipulation)
A primary chiropractic technique involving precise, controlled movements applied to the spine or joints to improve alignment, reduce stiffness, and enhance function.
Joint Mobilisation
Gentle, low-force movements used to improve joint mobility and flexibility—often suitable for acute pain or more sensitive patients.
Soft Tissue Therapy
Includes massage, trigger point therapy, and myofascial release to reduce muscle tension, improve circulation, and support healing.
Activator Method
A low-force technique using a handheld instrument to deliver quick, targeted impulses to specific areas of the body.
Drop Table Technique
Uses a specialised table with sections that gently drop during treatment, allowing for effective and comfortable adjustments with minimal force.
Rehabilitation & Corrective Exercises
Individually prescribed exercises to strengthen muscles, improve posture, and support long-term recovery and injury prevention.
Postural & Ergonomic Advice
Guidance on daily movement, workplace setup, and posture to help prevent recurring pain and strain.
Dry Needling (where applicable)
A technique used to release muscle tightness and trigger points, assisting with pain relief and improved muscle function.
